Keep In Touch With Your Health

Friday, February 29th, 2008

By Eric Cho Touch for health is a holistic healing system that takes the ENTIRE person into consideration while diagnosing and treating illnesses. The underlying philosophy behind the touch for health system is that every human body is a reservoir of energy that flows from one direction to another. In Chinese, this energy is called Chi, in Japan they call it Ki and in India they call it Prana and in Western chiropractic tradition it is called innate intelligence. Each of these systems refers to the bodys intuitive knowledge of its own balance. When the free flow of energy is blocked, the balance is disturbed and the body develops dis-ease. Touch is one of the essential elements of human developmenta critical component of health and growth . And a powerful healing force (Zur, 2004). The sensation of touch enables the body to feel, ache, and to know what its various parts are doing. From detecting a cancerous growth in the breast to diagnosing deep-seated functional abnormalities, the power of touch often communicates things that may come as a surprise to some of us. The Touch for health system uses the biggest sensory organ in the body for diagnostic as well as therapeutic purposes the skin. The skin is covered with tiny receptors that act like antenna and transmit messages from within the body to the sensitive and knowing hands of an experienced practitioner. The Touch for health system argues that humans have a natural right to use touch to activate the bodys natural healing powers. These powers are lying dormant in every body and need proper stimulation to be awakened. Daily activities enhance or impede these natural powers. In accordance to these changes, muscles, skin, bones and organs change and the functioning of the body is affected. Touch for Health is one of the most widely used systems of Kinesiology in the world today. It is a system of muscle testing and balancing that uses the principles of Chinese medicine, massage, postural alignment and energy work to improve the flow of energy in the body. Thus it releases pent up stress, tension and pain. Healing occurs and a life-long change also takes place as newer and healthier patterns replace the older and damaging lifestyles. According to the founder of this system, Dr. John F Thie, the Touch for Health system is a practical guide to natural and permanent health. It utilizes non-invasive methods like acupressure and massage to help improve posture. This reduces the pain, friction and injury caused by years of incorrect posture and alignment. This system can be used with other forms of massage or can be used as a stand-alone methodology for enhancing health. As the human body ages and matures, it actually shrinks in size. Tension and stress causes shortening of the muscles. As the body shrinks, the life energy becomes unbalanced and rigidity sets in. This gradually works away at the natural flow and balance in the body. The average human is 1 inch taller in the morning (after rest) than in the evening (after work). The Touch for health system aims to maintain the flexibility and malleability of the body. They reverse and minimize the shrinking process. Thus the body is allowed to relax and expand. This gives the body an unusually enervating and exhilarating feeling. Touch for health is a non-invasive and holistic healing system that can be used to fight chronic pain, stress and aches. When used in conjunction with traditional healing systems, the Touch for health system enables patients to recuperate faster. Using The Law of Attraction to Attract Women

Friday, February 29th, 2008

By Teddy Shabba Using the Law of Attraction to attract women is really quite simple, change your thoughts to what you want in attracting women and it will become your reality. When it comes to attracting and having success with women knowing how the Law of Attraction works will transform your reality with women to one of tremendous success with women. Most men approach women with thoughts of what they believe are there own shortcomings and a fear of being rejected. Using the law of attraction it is easy to see why when a man approaches a woman with those thoughts he gets rejected and many of his shortcomings are revealed during the whole attracting process. It is what he asked for! Now you might think that what he asked for is to Not get rejected and Not to reveal any of his shortcomings. However, an important part of the Law of Attraction to remember is that it only understands your thoughts and not the negative or positive. So when your thoughts are that you “don’t want to get rejected” the Law of attraction interprets it as “wants rejection.” Another important part of the Law of Attraction is that it can take time for your request to be answered. While it would be great if you could walk into a club and have the thought that the girl in the red dress is going to find me attractive, even if it comes true right away there is no guarantee she will be attracted right then. It might take two weeks and her gaining 20 pounds and getting dumped by her cheating boyfriend to find you attractive. Instead what you want to do is create a clear picture of all the qualities that you want in a woman or women and send those thoughts into the world so that the Law of Attraction can attract her or them to you. The most important thing is to do those things in which you find joy in and bring you joy and enjoy those moments. Too many people spend there Friday and Saturday nights alone with the walking dead and spirits (alcohol), if you truly find joy in that great and keep it up, if not consider doing those things that do bring you joy and attract women that way. Weight Loss Discipline

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

By David Snape Why is it so hard to lose weight and keep it off? We haveall heard that weight loss is just a matter of taking inless calories than we expend. That certainly sounds verylogical, but is it really that simple? For example, I had an intention of only eating fruits andvegetables for a day or two, to counteract the recent ‘junk’food I had been enjoying. This was a solid plan thatpractically guaranteed a decrease in caloric intake. However, a solid plan doesn’t always mean an easy execution. I figured I would be relatively safe making a trip to thehealth food store. So my guard against high fat foods wasdown. When I got to the store, my sensibilities wereassailed by a well meaning clerk hawking some freshly madecorn beef and cabbage. I could hardly resist thetemptation. And that wasn’t the end of it. Once my armourwas breached, the temptation of tasty, ‘health oriented’cookie samples fought for my attention. Once again, I capitulated. My normally strong will powerseemed to crumble. And once weakened, it seemed reasonableto just continue. It’s like that first drink for therecovering alcoholic. I am by no means overweight, but once in a while my dietgets out of hand and the fat around my midsection gets alittle more sizable than I am comfortable with. Usually, times like these are a great opportunity to get a littledetoxification in, so I like to focus on fruits andvegetables for a day or two. This has the dual effect of decreasing my caloric intake. Iwas also sticking with the simple plan mentioned above. Sowhere did things go wrong? Did I not have enough discipline?Did I lack willpower, or was it something else? In retrospect, the problem appears to be a lack ofpreparation. I failed to use the power of why. Let meexplain. When the chips were down, I didn’t seem to haveenough reason to maintain discipline. Maybe you have had asimilar experience? I rationalized with, “oh, a littlewon’t hurt me”. The truth is, once you start down thatroad, it can be hard to turn back. What would the right preparation be in that case? What isthis power of why that I am talking about? A great way tofortify will power with any strategy is to actually writeout the reasons why sticking to your plan or achieving yourgoal is important. It is kind of like stockpilingammunition. The weaponry, in this case, appears in the formof a list. With a long list of reasons supporting the plan or the goal,I would have had a lot more reserves to draw on when myfront line defenses were being stressed. When the wellmeaning clerk was pouncing, I should have had a ready listof whys to fall back on. As the clerk was just being niceand sounding really sensible, plus it was a free sampleafter all, my mind should have responded with my ready madelist of why I should not vary from my plan. That didn’t happen because I never made such a list.Whatever you are trying to accomplish in life, there arebound to be obstacles and obstructions that just leap intoyour path to stop or block you. These are the times thatyou need your list. The list is your power. No list, nopower. When anyone sits down to plan something or set a goal, theyneed a list to support them during weak times. The longerthe list, the better. Even if one has to carry the listalong in one’s pocket, it is worth it. A list of about 50reasons, while hard to create, can pay off in a major way. Imagine the clerk’s surprise, had I pulled out my handy listand read it off for him. My armour would not have beenpierced and the clerk would have had to move on to moreready prey or risk having the spear of temptation blunted! No list, no power. So, how long is your list? How To Get Rid Of Cellulite

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

By Laurel Tevolitz How to get rid of cellulite … Isn’t this a question most women ask themselves each time they look in the mirror? I know several times myself have overlooked it during the winter months only to come around to swimsuit season to find out not only have I slacked on my workout program, but also my ability to keep cellulite off my lower body. Here’s some cellulite information to take to heart… It exists on every woman, normally getting worse as we age. We cannot control its existence because it’s true causes range from genetics to hormone levels to age, diet and level of exercise activities. But do we have to live with it? Can it be cured? Well, the good news is it can be fought and its appearance reduced. There are several ways to combat cellulite. These include over-the-counter topical treatments (lotions, gels and creams), herbal remedies, endermologie treatments, healthy diet and a comprehensive exercise/fitness program that includes aerobic and anaerobic activities (running, walking, weightlifting). There are varying levels at which each of these methods will help to relieve the body of cellulite and it is important to remember that no particular type of regimen here alone will make cellulite disappear. Each of the above mentioned should be used in partnership as they all contribute to making cellulite’s appearance look less noticeable. For example, the foundation of your program should always start with a healthy diet that includes, lean meats, vegetables, healthy fats and eliminates heavy starches such as pasta, potatoes and rice in large quantities. You should also keep caffeine, sugar, salt and processed foods to a minimum, if not eliminate them from your diet if possible. The next important step is exercise. I cannot stress enough that having some form of fitness in your life is not only crucial to keeping the body heart healthy, but truly does make a difference in reducing the lumps and bumps that store on the hips, thighs and butt. A good program will always include some sort of cardiovascular activity such as running, walking, biking, etc. for fat burning and something to tone up the underlying muscles (weights). Remember, the more muscle you are able to build underneath, the more fat you will burn. To complement your diet and fitness program there are several options available. Each in and of themselves work well to reduce cellulite on problem areas, however, these alone must be repeated consistently in order to keep the results working. This includes: Cellulite creams, lotions or gels (with massage techniques) Endermologie or Skin Brushing Herbal Supplements You may wish to experiment to see which is best and most affordable for you. The bottom line on how to get rid of cellulite is to be committed to a healthy diet and lifestyle while incorporating some form of technique into your anti-cellulite program. There are no promises because we as humans cannot fight genetics nor nature, but we can make the effort to obtain as much cellulite information as possible, put it to good use and make a difference the next time we look in the mirror! How To Fight Back When The Cloud Of Doom Descends On You

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

By Steve Hill I am one of those people who can easily slip into a very negative state of mind. The slightest knockback or problem can lead to a cloud of doom descending over me, a cloud which I find hard to push away and remove. This article looks at ways in which we can fight back, to quickly get us back into a happy mode. I used to be quite a fragile character, some would say that I was even scared of my own shadow. I was always paranoid that people were talking about me and laughing behind my back. Even though my parents are superb, I was not a happy child or a happy teenager. I am so unlucky you see or so I thought. I walked around as if the world owed me something and would often feel very sorry for myself. I was bullied at school, it was more mental bullying rather than anything physical. I am sure that most people also get bullied and deal with it. It would leave me in a state of panic and depression. Looking back I have to say I was a bit of a wimp in reality. I decided that enough was enough by my mid-twenties and decided it was time to toughen up. I could not continue to live my life as I had been, as I would probably be dead by the time I was fifty. I then went about a self-help program to increase my overall self-confidence and self-esteem. I wanted to learn more about stress-management, dealing with depression, relaxation and about how to become successful in life. What I found out over the next twelve to eighteen months would change my life forever. These are the things I had to do: I had to stop feeling sorry for myself. Yes I am not perfect but who is. I had to think in a more positive way. I had to stop worrying about the future. I had to stop caring what other people thought of me. I needed to smile more. I needed to learn to relax. I now use meditation for this purpose. I had to learn to like myself. I needed to become stronger to fight away the negative thoughts in my head. I needed to appreciate what I did have in life, rather than concentrating on what I had not. I started to implement the above and it helped me no end. That horrible cloud of doom, still descended however, around once a month. When it does descend, I now write two lists. What I am happy about in life and what I am sad or worrying about. I then analyse both lists and more times than not, I am actually over-reacting. In conclusion, life is a battle. There are good times and bad. We need to become strong and learn to think in a more positive way. We have to fight back against people who bully us and against the voices in our head who are trying to make us panic. This is not easy, however with determination people are able to turn their life around just like I have. I used to feel anger towards the people who bullied me at school. I now feel sorry for them. They are the bad apples and I prey for them. I prey that God will one day make them pure. 3 Myths About Baby Milestones That Plague Your Baby’s Future, Whether You Know It Or Not

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

By Dalene Joubert Do you, without question, believe everything you hear about baby milestones and how to give your baby the best? And then rush off to buy the latest recommendation? If you’re focusing on developing your baby’s full potential, you will regularly hear the same myths. Definitely 3 of the “most frequent” myths you’ll hear are: #1: Skipping any of the major baby milestones is a clear cut sign of superior development. #2: My baby is very intelligent. So, she doesn’t have to master the milestones. #3: I don’t need to know what the baby milestones are… all babies automatically and spontaneously master all of them. The truth is, believing these myths will hinder your baby’s future, rather than give any kind of headstart. So, let’s solve these once and for all. Myth #1: Missing out and not mastering any baby milestone may be a sign that there’s an inability to master such a skill. And, if it’s a vital skill, your child will in all probability need this ability in years to come. Lack of ability may also be the result of inherited causes. It may even be due to a disease or muscle and nervous system problems that prevent or hinder development. A baby who does not crawl misses out on getting tactile stimulation through the hands. In later years this child may have problems holding a pen or pencil. And most likely, have difficulty to write. Myth #2: Normal baby development is universal and follows the same natural patterns and steps throughout the world. That means a baby developing “normally” should master every development milestone within a very specific age range, regardless of where in the world she lives… or how intelligent she is. Babies develop certain skills in a very specific order. That’s why milestones also have a very specific sequence in which they should me mastered. So, even gifted babies follow this same development pattern by mastering the different milestones. And despite what you may believe, your baby does not have her own unique set of development rules where certain skills are not needed. You often hear of boys who don’t like or even refuse to build puzzles. They prefer to play outside. That’s not uncommon. But most of these boys will invariably struggle with certain skills at school. Many of them struggle to organize themselves when given a page with lots of information. Words or even sentences are left out when they read. And many struggle to copy information from a board to a book. Playing and building puzzles would have developed some of these basic skills, thus preventing the problem. Myth #3: If things are perfect, you don’t need to know what the milestones are. Or when your baby should master them… or in what sequence. But real world experience shows that things are not always perfect. And infants don’t always automatically develop all the skills at the right age. Many of them struggle at school a few years later. Most of these problems can easily be prevented by immediately spotting a problem. And then taking corrective action. The sooner a problem is spotted, the easier it can be overcome. So, the easiest way you can give your baby the best is to ignore these myths, to know what the major baby milestones are and when they must be mastered. The only thing that remains is then to closely watch and track your child’s progress. You Too Can Give Your Baby The Best! Dalene Joubert has created the ultimate FREE baby development resource. Private Practice Marketing: Why You Should Absolutely Never Do a Free Consultation, Ever, Period

Saturday, February 16th, 2008

By Jeff Herring Private practice marketing is tough enough without being encouraged to give away your services. Yet somehow it has leaked into the “popular wisdom” of the coaching world that the way to get new clients is to offer a free complimentary consultation. I do not know where or how this got started, and I really don’t care. What I do care about is that the people that I mentor and coach do not offer one! Here’s why: The idea behind the free complimentary session is that if someone gets a little bit of your services they are going to want more. While it does make a certain amount of sense, it does not work in the real world. The reason this popular idea does not work is it communicates two things: 1. You communicate that you are willing to give away your services for free. When you do this in a first meeting, you communicate that the rest of your services are free or that your fees are negotiable. 2. You communicate that someone can get all they need in a one time session. While that is not your intention, it is what is communicated. I’ve heard it a thousand times from those I coach and mentor - very few people that do the complimentary session end up as clients. What to do instead Guess what? We already do an initial consultation. It’s usually called a phone chat. In my in person or on the phone coaching, the first contact is most often by phone. The client and I chat for awhile, they tell me what is going on, I tell them what I think we can do together, and we then almost always set the first appointment. And it would NEVER, EVER occur to me to call it a free initial consult. Neither should you.
